Urea formaldehyde resin
Urea formaldehyde resin

Urea formaldehyde resin, also known as urea formaldehyde resin. UF, abbreviated as UF, is a thermosetting resin formed by the condensation of urea and formaldehyde with a catalyst (alkaline or acidic catalyst) in the initial stage, and then with the action of a curing agent or auxiliary agent, forming an insoluble and non melting final stage. After curing, the color of urea formaldehyde resin is lighter than that of phenolic resin, and it is semi transparent. It is resistant to weak acids and alkalis, has good insulation performance, excellent wear resistance, and is cheap. It is the largest variety of adhesive used, especially in the manufacturing of various artificial boards in the wood processing industry. Urea formaldehyde resin and its modified products account for about 90% of the total amount of adhesive used. However, when encountering strong acids and bases, it is prone to decomposition, poor weather resistance, poor initial adhesion, large shrinkage, brittleness, water resistance, and easy aging. Artificial boards produced with urea formaldehyde resin have problems with formaldehyde release during manufacturing and use, so they must be modified.
